Book club

Next book on the list is ‘The Slap‘ by Christos Tsiolkas. From what I’ve read it sounds like a porno, but then again I’m probably missing the subliminal messages artistically woven into the prose to convey the story of the Romeo and Juliet as a modern day contemporary allegory.

Anyway, next meeting is at Liz’s house (Number 15) in September (exact date to be confirmed).

Breast Cancer Tea Party

Michelle and Kate are organising a strawberry tea party in aid of breast cancer. The price is £5 per person (though you can give more of course) and all proceeds go to the breast cancer care charity.

The party will be held at Kate’s house (Pounsley House)  on Saturday 16th July at 3pm onwards.

They ask for residents to volunteer to help bake some cakes or savoury dish. Please see Kate or Michelle for more information.

Handy Local Numbers

Fellow Pounsley residents, I have set up a website which has the names and numbers of local tradesmen. The list was created by me and a number of my friends who also live in the area. Whenever we get a tradesman out we add them to the list and write a short review (good and bad).

www.handylocalnumbers.com

If you would like to contribute to the list and to write reviews or rate tradesmen then please drop me a line and I’ll set you up an account.
